Indonesia

Tsunami...Message To All Our Indonesian Friends...

Whole swathes of Asia, Africa and India were recently hit by the waves of a Tsunami. This is already (and will become, even greater so) a massive international disaster. We recently toured Indonesia where we were greeted and treated with lavish attention. Hospitality was unsurpassed, people were humble, thoughtful, professional and proud. Then this has happened to them. Our love and thoughts are with those who have suffered loss of life and livelihood. We wish you all the strength in the world to cope with the coming weeks and months.

Love and respect, amigdela...Chris, Eva, Gary, Rico and Oliver.

Amigdela @ Club8, Amsterdam.

On Monday the 30th of August we played the wonderful "club8" in Amsterdam for a second time thanks to the owners and promoters. With a great crowd and even larger in numbers then on our first visit, we ripped through our scheduled set and found time in between to throw in some improvised funk and rap jams. We were also able to beam our 1 hour "movie" on to a screen next to the stage, consisting of photo's, images and art collected during amigdela's career so far, which was truly an addition to the night's show. Plus we presented our demo (recorded at La Rocka Studios, North London) called "Asking Too Much" and sold out all 70 copies we brought along. We will be making many more copies readily available by early September...

We played;

-Waltz
-December Man
-Labyrinth
-Girl I Used (To Know)
-O' Brother
-Anna's Song
-All Along The Watchtower
-Lactosis
-Your Flow

-Doesn't Matter
-Holding On To Matches
-Facts
-Street Spirit
-Pasta Di Parma/Minor Major
-Protect
-The One I Love

Encore;

-Earthquake
-As it Is

See you soon at the Infinity, Soho, mid October.....Date to be confirmed.

AMIGDELA PLAY AMSTERDAM PART II

Oh no! We're going back!
On August the 30th, we are going back to Holland to play the fabulous "CLUB 8" in Amsterdam for the second time in 2004. The show will be a part of the "Amsterdam Open 9-ball", an international pool billiard extravaganza, featuring international stars such as; Efren Reyes, Francisco Bustamante and the entertaining Earl "The Pearl" Strickland!

That's all on top of what Amigdela promise to bring you on this evening. A new and improved setlist still including old favourites that can be heard on this site but also the song that had Amsterdam shaking the last time... 'Earthquake' (to be one of our new demo tracks). Plus we've been coming up with some new tunes recently that we're very eager to unleash on you in Amsterdam.

ENTRY IS FREE!! As this is part of the annual 9-ball event. Are these enough reasons? We would think so. Wether you live in Holland or abroad, come and join Amigdela the Dam for an evening you won't forget!

See you soon,...amigdela.

Eva Linn & Rico unplugged at Grey Horse Kingston

Last night (12th May) me and Eva played a nice little gig at the Grey Horse in Kingston. It's a lovely, lively venue where there is live music 7 nights a week. It had been about 3 years since we'd played a show, just the 2 of us and that's why I set it up. Oliver and Chris also came down which was really nice. We were up first and had 20 minutes to rock the house. It felt really good and relaxed and we were actually ready to play all night, but hey...

We're definitely going to do some more of these little shows with different line-ups and we'll post the dates here when they're arranged. So next time it might be a show with Oliver, Eva and Gary who knows!

We played;

-Minor major
-Holding on to matches
-Lactosis
-Facts (brand new)

We're also planning a big party night at Infinty, Soho in June where we'll be playing a 90-minute set! Date to be posted soon.

If you would like personal invitations to all our gigs + all the info from the world of amigdela, please add your e-mail to our mailing list.

Untill next time,

Rico

Fortunately whispered, could this be distance,
that I am throwing a stone.
And where you are I know you, you can feel it in the life,
that is running through you,
that you are throwing a stone.

And from where I am, I write, is-,
alone and at my brightest,
where both our might is,
he who realizes,
to both of us I write this.

I don't wanna go to sleep.
I don't wanna go to sleep.
Want to be the first to reap.
...sowing the seeds...
Pick 'm up when you please.

somethings are just...

"And so I told myself, just start with the little things.
Something my eyes are familiar with.
Don't grow out and don't wander off.
Stand still in front of things that are at my feet for once.

I'm going outside and let myself bump into.
The tree, the lake, the stone and the mountain.
Wish you were here now, but that's just not to be.
We'll take it all with us in the next melody."

"To find yourself amazed.
To find yourself.
To be on top of things.
Claiming prizes only when neccesary.
Hey turn that light off, it's bright enough in here.

Can't step up and then walk down,
leave it to another one.
Sharing stuff is nice and all.
Can't step up and then walk down."

"Oh how we wish it was all of us.
Thought we thought everything.
Blind to the missing link.
Deprived...of female philosophers.

And even the thoughts and thinking of the "first" half.
Through yelling and screaming.
Pulling at the pages they wrote in.
Lost and never to be found again."

"Turn left 4 times and I'll come back to me."

A MINI CD!

We are currently in amigdela's private studio working on a brand new demo. It will most likely consist of 3 or 4 tracks and will be a document of what we've come to sound like since the "Holding on to matches"-demo. We've picked 10 of our best songs and we'll be recording them all. A basic "ground-track" for all songs was recorded last week and tomorrow (4th nov.) Chris will be laying down his drum parts. We will be recording;

-Protect me from the reign
-Waltz
-O brother
-Doesn't matter
-Holding on to matches
-As it is
-Help me
-December man
-Your flow
-Lactosis

Check here for a regular update on the recording process.

Goodbye for now, all at amigdela

OLYMPIA and VERGE in one night...

Thanks to those who came to both The Olympia and Verge gigs (Jaime..where were you!) on 26th July. We played to just over 3000 people at Olympia and we did:

Waltz
O Brother
Protect
Doesnt Matter
Help Me
December Man
Lactosis
Your Flow
As It Is

We were the last band to go on, our set lasted 40 minutes...we played from 6.30pm until past 7...and then got thoroughly hammered on good wine and tapas...

...we then went on to the Verge, Kentish Town and did the same set minus O Brother, playing after our good funksters Phineas...everyone danced and made merry. 18 songs over 2 gigs to 3000 plus people in one evening. This is getting ridiculous.

Thanks to The Talent Scout, The Way Ahead (box office), Clarion Events Limited and all the engineers who did a great job for both gigs.

don't worry

ONCE WERE WORRIERS THAT WORRIED ABOUT BEING ON TIME...

They for whom worrying starts all but in the last 15 minutes of making it.

You may find that once you didn't make it on time, this time, even though it was a close call. Where are the worries? This happens all the time........ Habits made to fit and glide in the sidelines.

They for whom worrying sometimes commences 2 or 3 hours before a meeting of whatever kind. You repeatedly feel your worried minutes of making it mutiply.. numerous times.

There you are, clocking in way ahead of a time, that nobody else keeps or recognises, but only when repeated for a lifetime........ Habits made to fit and glide in the sidelines.

WHO IS THE WORST WORRIER WHERE NOT WAITING DOES NOT WIN TIME?

Rico.

Gig Played at The Sound - night of 25/04/03

Phew. The gig went really smoothly - we played

Waltz
Doesn't Matter (demo of this in the 'Listen Now' section of this site)
Your Flow
Holding On To Matches
Protect
As It Is (even more derranged than the 'Infinity' gig version on 08/04)

The venue was fabulous as were the staff - floor manager, two(!) sound engineers, other personnel...loads of decent gear (steady). Perfic.

Our erstwhile web-designer shot some film of it, which we will endeavour to load onto the site asap, along with a track or two.

Last and not least, the audience to this gig was easily the biggest we've had. A million thanks. We hope you enjoyed the night and we hope to see you again soon.
